The ice storm of 2013 caught many people off guard. It’s been a while since we’ve had to deal with the inconvenience of not having any power. We are so used to entering a room and turning on the switch and the light comes on.
In the Oshawa area there were a lot of homes that had lost power for more than 72 hours. We were without power until Christmas morning. We were fortunate enough to have a generator to provide us with heat and light. I really appreciate all the hard work from the City of Oshawa and the Oshawa Public Utilities. Looking forward, we all need to be more proactive and prepare for anything Mother Nature may throw at us. Keep an eye on trees overhanging power lines, and trim when necessary.
